This sculpture is a nod to Mazzy Star and the iconic song, “Fade into You.” The intention was not to sculpt an accurate portrait of Hope Sandoval (lead singer), but to portray her essence from the video of the song. Her stance, back slightly arched, neck tucked in and her left hand grasping the inside of her right elbow exudes a certain shyness and mystery with a touch of melancholy.
