This sculpture is intended to symbolize the joy that comes from within oneself, without the need for external affirmation. I believe this is a critical step toward self-actualization, the end goal of us all. The figure is intentionally off-balance to depict motion, as if in the middle of a dance and the lines between the sheer cloth and the figure’s skin are ambiguous to symbolize a confidence amidst vulnerability. Dance because you want to dance… and while nobody else is looking.
